President Donald Trump made a huge announcement on Tuesday regarding the coronavirus relief packages. He said that he would be suspending talks about any further coronavirus relief packages until the general election is over.
Of course, if you hear just that, anyone would be uneasy. But that’s not the whole story.
According to Fox News, President Trump several hours later made a move that put House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in trouble.
A tweetstorm followed after Trump’s announcement that he would be willing and even thrilled to sign stand-alone bills that would give Americans a much needed $1,200 check, and allocate $25 billion into the struggling airline industry.
“The House & Senate should IMMEDIATELY Approve 25 Billion Dollars for Airline Payroll Support, & 135 Billion Dollars for Paycheck Protection Program for Small Business. Both of these will be fully paid for with unused funds from the Cares Act. Have this money. I will sign now!” Trump tweeted.
An hour after his first tweet, he posted another one calling out to Nancy Pelosi about the stimulus checks.
“If I am sent a Stand Alone Bill for Stimulus Checks ($1,200), they will go out to our great people IMMEDIATELY. I am ready to sign right now. Are you listening Nancy?” Trump tweeted.
And again, he posted another tweet and called out to Pelosi. He told her to “move fast,” because he was “waiting to sign.”
Before President Trump and First Lady Melania had tested positive and were hospitalized because of COVID-19, there had already been a battle between the Republicans and Democrats in Congress. As they tried to one-up one another, the arguments continued to stall further talks about passing a new coronavirus relief package.
According to the New York Post, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s relief bill is nothing but a wish list for the left. They also noted all the changes that Pelosi would want to add to the bill.
The Republicans, including the president, are blaming the Democrats for adding too much pork. According to them, this would only serve to save the badly-managed Democrat-run cities across the country.
The Republican Party even coined Pelosi’s absurd additions to the bill the term, “blue-state bailout.”
