Former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn posted a petition on Twitter on Tuesday urging President Trump to declare Martial Law enacting a re-vote of the 2020 elections.
The Daily Caller reported that the petition published on Tuesday said there was “no peaceful way left to preserve our Union” after the declaration of Joe Biden as president-elect. We The People Convention, an Ohio-based non-profit group, urged President Trump to exercise his authority to avert a second civil war.
“Limited Martial Law is clearly a better option than Civil War!” said a letter in the petition.
“Freedom never kneels except for God,” Flynn captioned, with the petition attached to the tweet.
The letter in the petition encouraged President Trump to similarly act like former President Abraham Lincoln at the start of the Civil War in the 1860s, including the following:
- 1. Ordering several newspapers in the North that speak ill of him to shut down, with the owners and editors arrested.
- 2. Ordering arrest of an Ohio congressman for “speaking out against him.”
- 3. Signing a warrant of arrest for the then-Supreme Court Chief Justice who ruled that President Lincoln illegally suspended the Writ of Habeas Corpus.
- 4. Ordering the arrest of thousands of residents in Maryland for being “suspected Southern sympathies.” Some of whom were held for years in military prisons without trial.
The letter further said that while several would object to the actions, as they did in the 1860s, “We assure you that We the People understand that no less action will suffice to prevent the loss of our Constitutional right to vote and preserve our Republic.”
Attorney Lin Wood, a formidable part of Trump’s legal team, also shared the Twitter petition.
Wood wrote that the country is headed to civil war – created by the “third-party bad actors for their benefit – not for We The People.” He added that Communist China leads the nefarious efforts of taking away American freedom, echoing President Trump’s calls to declare Martial Law.
