Amid the looting in a Philadelphia store Tuesday, looters assaulted BlazeTV reporter Elijah Schaffer, filming the horrible robbery scene.
Violent protests erupted in Philadelphia after the police shooting of Walter Wallace Jr., 27-year-old, on Monday. Wallace allegedly charged at officers while holding a knife when the police took him down.
Aside from riots, the mobs also spread looting in several stores caught on social media the day after. About 30 officers were hurt, and 90 people arrested in the riots.
While filming the ongoing lootings inside a store, reporter Elijah Schaffer was assaulted by the offenders when they saw him.
Schaffer narrated in footage posted on his Twitter account that he “was jumped by BLM rioters while they were looting more than a dozen stores, including Wal-Mart, T-Mobile, & 5-below.”
The reported was clearly in pain with bloodied and chapped lips.
“Though in pain, I didn’t stop reporting because Americans need to see what the corporate media refuses to show,” he continued.
Schaffer shared the video he filmed until the mob assaulted him. In his tweet, he wrote, “PHILADELPHIA: This is the footage I was recording when BLM assaulted me.” He claimed other journalists were filming too, but the BLM charged only him because he wasn’t a person of color.
“I do believe I was targeted for being white as they accused me of being a white supremacist & did not attack people of color,” Schaffer said.
Shelby Talcott of Daily Caller was also in the area at the time of the incident. She tweeted, “Mass looting across the river and @ElijahSchaffer just got beaten up for filming.”
She wrote that the video was taken inside the Five Below store. Police officers were also in the parking lot near Walmart, but Talcott said there were just too many looters.
Talcott shared footage of her walking inside the store, where he saw Schaffer wearing a white patterned bandana. She caught the alleged looters approaching Schaffer, telling him to “Stop recording!”
The BlazeTV reporter was then surrounded by several looters that beat him up.
Talcott then posted Schaffer’s photo of a busted lip, saying, “@ElijahSchaffer got beaten up inside one of the stores for filming.”
