US Air Force veteran Ashli Babbitt was shot as protesters stormed into the US Capitol.
A video was posted by National File, which shows the shooting itself clearly. A warning on the video clearly says it is graphic, but it clarifies the shooting’s nature.
According to the video, Babbitt appears to be climbing through a broken window. Aside from her being part of the crowd and climbing through a broken window, it’s unclear why the police shot her thought it was needed.
She was unarmed and was not threatening anyone’s life. In fact, when the police shot her, it could have endangered the cops and other people behind her.
People can be heard saying “flash bang,” but it sounds like a gunshot. She was also immediately bleeding from the neck or chest profusely. At this point, we’ll have to wait for what the police say.
Here’s a video of a young man who was at the scene explaining what happened.
Ian Miles Cheong from KUSI News identified the woman as Ashli Babbitt, a 14-year Air Force veteran who worked as a security officer and served four tours of duty.
Tucker Carlson from Fox News also commented on the shooting, saying, “We got to this sad, chaotic day for a reason. It is not your fault. It is their fault.”
To the politicians, it’s the wrong move to stop trying to address the public’s concerns just because of the violence. Ignoring them instigates them to act out, even more, to get their voices heard.
Rather, the concerns must be addressed, even as the violence is condemned.
