In his inaccurate post on Instagram on Wednesday, Kevin Hart propagated fake news that President Trump told the infamous Ku Klux Klan (KKK) to “stand back and stand by” during the first Presidential debate.
Hart must have missed headlines and news about Trump denouncing white supremacy and even calling KKK a terrorist group.
“When [T]rump was asked to address the KKK. THIS MAN SAID & I quote… ‘Stand back and stand by,” Hart posted to Instagram.
Hart captioned, “If this isn’t enough to make you go vote, then I don’t know what is….Wake up!!!!! This man is promoting hate at the highest level. Blunt f***ing racism…..F***ING RACISM!!!!”
In a transcript of the debate shared by the Daily Wire, the phrase “stand back and stand by” was clearly addressed to the Proud Boys.
Moderator Chris Wallace and Democrat Presidential candidate Joe Biden urged President Trump in the debate to condemn white supremacist and militia groups. The president agreed and asked to whom he would address the condemnation.
Chris Wallace answered, “White supremacists and right-wing militias.”
Biden said, “Proud Boys.”
Thus, President Trump said, “Proud boys, stand back and stand by…”
An all-male group, Proud Boys, has expressly denounced white supremacy.
Further, President Trump announced last week the Antifa and KKK’s designation as terrorist groups and made lynching as a national hate crime.
Even when called out by several commenters on the misleading post, Hart defiantly said, “If you don’t see it this way, then your part of the f***ing problem!!!! I SAID WHAT I SAID, AND I WILL STAND ON THAT S!!!!!!”
Hart’s post remains online and has gathered over 1 million likes and more than 50,000 comments.
What a way to use influence in spreading out fake news. Hart is seemingly too proud to acknowledge errors in his judgment.
