White House Press Secretary.. Kayleigh McEnany didn’t hold herself back after Fox News journalist John Roberts wouldn’t stop asking bogus questions about whether or not President Trump condemns white supremacy.
After McEnany unleashed on him at the White House, Roberts rushed to where the Fox News cameras were and had a meltdown on live television.
“For all of you on Twitter who are hammering me for answering that — for asking that question, I don’t care!” he whined. “Because it’s a question that needs to be asked.”
According to Breitbart, Roberts had asked McEnany three times whether President Trump denounces white supremacy. He seemed as if he did not want to accept the word “yes” for an answer.
Roberts had asked “for a definitive and declarative statement, without ambiguity or deflection, as the person who speaks for the president, does the president denounce white supremacism [sic], and groups that espouse it, in all their forms?”
McEnany then replied that the president had already answered the question on the previous day, during the debate. She also read a list of quotes in which the president denounced white supremacy, including one in which the president said: “In one voice, our nation must condemn racism, bigotry, and white supremacy.”
She took a step further and said that Trump has “condemned white supremacy more than any president in modern history.”
The answer from McEnany clearly wasn’t good enough for Roberts, since he again replied, “Just to clear it up this morning, can you, naming it, make a declarative statement that you denounce — that the president denounces it.”
McEnany answered: “I just did.”
“You read a bunch of quotes from the past. I’m just asking you to put this to rest,” Roberts again responded.
McEnany only repeated, “I just did.”
This was when she tried to move on to the next question, but Roberts would not stop and again asked, “Can you, right now, denounce white supremacy and the groups that espouse it.”
At that point, McEnany had had enough. She replied, “I just did! The president denounced white supremacy, the KKK, and hate groups in all forms. He signed a resolution to that effect. The president just last week — perhaps you all weren’t covering it — just last week expressed his desire to see the KKK prosecuted as domestic terrorists. This president advocated for the death penalty for a white supremacist, the first federal execution in 17 years. His record on this is unmistakable, and it’s shameful that the media refuses to cover it.”
On Fox News, Roberts was obviously angry that McEnany would not offer a clear denunciation of white supremacy.
Roberts’ wife had asked President Trump whether he condemns white supremacy a day before the press briefing.
“Just now: @realDonaldTrump tells me he DENOUNCES white supremacists,” she had tweeted right after.
McEnany had not had enough. She went another step further and called Roberts out on Twitter by using his own wife’s tweet against him. “@johnrobertsFox I would refer you to your wife’s reporting from 21 hours ago… accurate reporting I cited in the White House Press Briefing.”
