Joe Biden’s plan to “bring back” the US economy from the coronavirus devastation sounds alarmingly racial. On Sunday, Biden declared to prioritize the minority-owned businesses over the businesses of White.
“Our priority will be Black, Latino, Asian, and Native American owned small businesses, women-owned businesses,” said the president-elect.
Biden later claimed his team is seeking “equal opportunity,” although it was clearly ‘not equal’ due to the systemic racism. He might have thought giving ‘more opportunities’ to the minorities would make them feel equal with the rest. Wouldn’t that be unfair to the latter?
Several took their opinion to Twitter to rake the incoming president.
“Racism is now government policy,” Will Chamberlain wrote.
“I’m not a constitutional scholar, but I am failing to see how this squares with equal protection and the 14th amendment,” Kyle Becker said.
“Racist and divisive. Screw all the white male small business owners dealing with the same evil shutdown measures. It’s absolutely appalling the way white men are allowed to be constantly maligned and discriminated against,” Amanda Prestigiacomo also wrote.
Biden ought to think more “equal” ways for all Americans regardless of race, gender, and color. Giving priorities or any advantage to one group would fuel the already growing divide among the citizens.
Running to the minorities to gain sympathy is the cheapest tactic we ever saw.
