Representative Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez has once again reacted to the border crisis, but this time, without tears.
The first time she did so was under former President Trump’s administration. She went down to the border, where she was photographed peering through a fence and weeping. Of course, this was all fake because there was nothing on the other side of the fence.
Now that there actually is a border crisis, AOC decided not to go to the border. Instead, she uploaded a video of herself.
“They want to say, what about the surge?” she began. Then, claiming that a “gut check” needed to be done, she said that anyone who uses the term “surge” is “trying to invoke a militaristic flame.”
“And that’s a problem,” she said. “Because this is not a surge — these are children and they are not insurgents. And we are not being invaded, which, by the way, is a white supremacist idea — the idea that if an other is coming in the population, that this is like an invasion of who we are.”
Now, Dinesh D’Souza, a senior domestic policy analyst in the Reagan administration, fact-checked AOC during his podcast.
“Surge is just a term that refers to an increase, a kind of expansion,” he clarified. D’Souza explained that of course, the term can be used in a military context, but it is more often used to refer to an increase, just like in the phrase “a surge in COVID cases.”
“Let’s now turn to the word insurgent,” he said. However, a thorough Google search showed that not once were the unaccompanied minors called insurgents. “An insurgent is an armed rebel or revolutionary, as in armed insurgent groups. So insurgent is a military term, but no one’s using it about the border.”
Lastly, D’Souza explained how AOC’s statement that “these are children” was “either uttered in frightening naiveté or cunning, diabolical deception.”
As he correctly stated, children do not create caravans. “These children are pawns; they are human passports,” he said. “They are part of a complex, drug trafficking, cartel-driven criminal operation.”
D’Souza concluded: “All of this is the kind of fakery designed to camouflage the horrific events that are going on on the border that have been not just the accidental result, but the foreseeable consequences of the policies of Biden and the left.”
